Installing a cable lock is pretty straightforward. First, locate your laptop’s security slot—usually on the side or back.

• Insert the lock’s head into the slot and turn or click it to secure.
• If your device doesn’t have a slot, adhesive security plates can be attached to create a locking point.
• Wrap the cable around a sturdy, immovable object like a desk leg.
• Lock the cable and check that it’s firmly attached.

Always follow the instructions included with your lock for best results and avoid forcing any parts to prevent damage.

Yes, many cable locks are designed for more than just laptops.

• Adhesive security plates and retractable cable locks can be attached to tablets, remotes, microphones, and other portable devices.
• Look for products that mention compatibility with curved or flat surfaces.
• Make sure the adhesive is strong enough for your device’s material.

This setup can help prevent loss or theft, especially in shared spaces or busy environments.

When choosing a security cable lock, consider these factors:

• Length and thickness of the cable—longer cables offer more flexibility, while thicker cables may provide extra durability.
• Locking mechanism—options include keyed, combination, or coded locks.
• Compatibility—check if the lock fits your device’s security slot or if you need an adhesive plate.
• Material—steel cables and zinc alloy clasps are common for added strength.

Reading product descriptions and customer reviews can help you find the right fit for your needs.

To keep your cable lock in good shape:

• Clean the lock and cable regularly with a dry cloth to remove dust and debris.
• Avoid exposing the lock to moisture, which can cause rust or corrosion.
• Store keys or remember your combination in a safe place.
• If your lock has moving parts, check for smooth operation and avoid forcing it if it feels stuck.

Proper care can help extend the life of your security lock and keep your devices protected.

Replacement parts, such as keys or adhesive plates, may be available depending on the lock’s brand and model.

• Check the product packaging or manufacturer’s website for information about spare parts.
• Some locks offer universal components, while others require specific replacements.
• If you lose a key or need a new adhesive plate, reach out to customer support or visit Walmart’s online help center for assistance.

Keeping track of your lock’s details can make finding replacements easier if needed.
