Both "lamp post" and "lamppost" are commonly used, and you'll see them spelled either way. In everyday conversation and writing, "lamppost" (one word) is often used, especially in American English. However, "lamp post" (two words) is also correct and widely understood. When searching or shopping online, using either term will usually bring up the same types of outdoor lighting poles.

Those tall lights you see outside are usually called lamp posts or street lights. They can also be referred to as outdoor post lights or garden lamp posts depending on where they're used. These fixtures are designed to light up walkways, driveways, patios, and gardens, making outdoor spaces safer and more inviting after dark.

"Lamp post" is the term most people use for outdoor lighting poles. While "lamp pole" might make sense, it's not as common. If you're searching for outdoor lighting options, "lamp post" or "post light" will help you find the right products for your yard, garden, or driveway. These terms are widely recognized by manufacturers and retailers.

In the United States, people usually call them lamp posts or post lights. Sometimes, you'll also hear "street light" or "yard lamp" depending on where it's installed. No matter the name, these fixtures serve the same purpose—lighting up outdoor areas for safety and style.

• Measure your space: Check the height and width you need so the lamp post fits your yard or pathway.
• Consider power source: Decide between solar-powered, hardwired, or battery-operated options based on your setup.
• Think about style: Choose a design that matches your home's look—modern, vintage, or classic.
• Check for weather resistance: Look for materials that can handle outdoor conditions, like metal or durable plastic.
• Installation needs: Some lamp posts are easy to install yourself, while others may require professional help.

Taking these factors into account can help you find a lamp post that works well and looks great in your outdoor space.
