Choosing the right string for keychains depends on how you plan to use them. Popular options include nylon braided cord, paracord, leather strips, and plastic lacing. Nylon and paracord are known for their durability and flexibility, making them ideal for everyday use. Leather cords offer a stylish look for accessories, while plastic lacing is great for colorful, creative projects. When picking a string, consider factors like strength, thickness, and color to match your needs. Walmart offers a variety of keychain strings for crafting, jewelry, and practical use.

The string used for keychains is often referred to as a lanyard string, paracord, braided cord, or beading thread. You might also see terms like 'plastic lacing cord' or 'leather cord' depending on the material. These names help identify the type and purpose of the string, whether it's for crafting, jewelry making, or attaching keys. If you're shopping at Walmart, searching for 'keychain string' or 'lanyard cord' will help you find the right products for your project.

• Start by threading the string through the key ring or clasp.
• Fold the string in half and pull the ends through the loop to create a secure knot, like a lark's head knot.
• For added strength, you can use a double knot or a square knot.
• Trim any excess string and seal the ends if needed (for nylon or plastic cords, gently melt the tips to prevent fraying).

Different knots work for different materials, so choose one that suits your string type and desired look. Always check the string's strength before attaching heavy items.

The connector on a keychain is commonly called a lobster claw clasp, swivel clasp, split ring, or snap hook. These connectors make it easy to attach and detach keys or accessories. Split rings are the classic circular connectors, while lobster claw clasps and swivel hooks offer more flexibility and security. Walmart carries a variety of keychain connectors in different sizes and styles, so you can find the right one for your needs.
