• Delicate or heat-sensitive fabrics: Silk, acetate, faux leather, vinyl, and some nylons may scorch or melt.
• High-stretch knits: Spandex blends and performance wear can flex and lift the patch over time.
• Loose weaves or textured piles: Sweaters and heavy textures may limit contact with the adhesive.

If you’re working with special fabrics, look for patches labeled specifically for that material or consider sewing for extra hold. Always test heat in an inconspicuous spot first.

Both can work—your choice depends on use and care needs.

• Iron-on labels: Bond to fabric for a more durable, laundry-friendly option. They take a bit more time to apply and require heat, but can hold up better on clothing when applied as directed.
• Stick-on labels: Quick to apply with no heat and easy to reposition. They’re great for hard surfaces (bottles, bins) and temporary use. On clothing, they may lift sooner in frequent washes unless specified for laundry.

Consider how often the item is washed, whether heat is allowed, and if removability matters. When in doubt, test on a care tag first and follow the package instructions.

A few care steps can help designs look good longer:

• Wait before washing: Let the bond set 24–48 hours after pressing.
• Turn inside out: Helps reduce abrasion during the wash.
• Use gentle settings: Cold or warm water, mild detergent, and a gentle cycle. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners that may affect adhesion.
• Dry with care: Hang dry or tumble dry low. High heat can cause lifting.
• Avoid direct ironing: If needed, press from the back with a pressing cloth.
• Touch-ups: If edges lift, cover with parchment or a protective sheet and re-press per the material’s instructions.
