High back sofas can offer extra support for your upper back, neck, and shoulders, which many people find helpful during long periods of sitting. This design can help you relax more fully, especially if you like to lean back or read. However, comfort is subjective and depends on your personal preferences and body type. If you’re looking for a sofa for extended lounging or movie nights, a high back settee might be a great choice. It’s always a good idea to try out different styles in person to see what feels best for you.

The 2/3 sofa rule is a simple guideline for choosing the right size sofa for your space.

• It suggests your sofa should be about two-thirds the length of the wall or area it sits against.
• This helps create balance in your room and keeps things from feeling crowded or too sparse.
• It’s especially useful if you’re arranging furniture in a living room or open space.

For many seniors, a seat height between 18 and 20 inches can make getting up and down from a sofa easier.

• Higher seats reduce the amount of bending needed, which can be more comfortable for those with mobility concerns.
• Look for sofas with firm cushions and sturdy armrests for added support.

A high back couch typically has a backrest that rises well above your shoulders when seated.

• Most high back sofas have a back height of 30 inches or more from the seat to the top.
• This style is designed to offer extra support for your upper body.

To keep your high back settee in great shape, try these tips:

1. Vacuum regularly to remove dust and crumbs from crevices.
2. Spot clean spills right away using a mild cleaner recommended for your fabric type.
3. Rotate and fluff cushions to help them wear evenly.
4. If your settee has removable covers, wash them according to the care instructions.
