For delicate berries, containers that manage moisture and prevent crushing tend to perform well. Features to consider include:

• Removable colander/strainer: Keeps fruit elevated so excess water drains away.
• Adjustable venting: Lets condensation escape; open slightly in the fridge if berries seem damp.
• Shallow, wide shape: Reduces stacking, which can bruise berries.
• Secure lid: Helps limit fridge odors and spills when transporting.
• Clear walls: Makes it easy to see what to eat first.

Rinsing right before eating can help, or dry berries thoroughly before storing to reduce extra moisture. Freshness can vary by berry type, ripeness, and your refrigerator’s humidity, so adjust vents and placement as needed. Check product pages for details on strainers, vents, and sizes that fit your routine.

Thoughtful design can help slow spoilage and keep produce usable longer, though results vary by item and storage conditions. Here’s how many produce containers support freshness:

• Moisture control: Elevated baskets and drain channels reduce sogginess.
• Airflow balance: Vents or humidity dials help limit trapped condensation.
• Gentle separation: Dividers keep soft items away from heavier produce.
• Visibility: Clear bins make it easier to spot what needs eating.
• Organization: Stackable shapes reduce crowding and help maintain airflow in the fridge.

Pair containers with good habits: avoid overfilling, dry produce that’s been washed, and store ethylene‑sensitive items away from heavy emitters when possible. Always follow the care guidance and your refrigerator’s recommended settings for best results.

Both materials can work well for fruit; the better fit depends on how you use them.

• Glass: Generally non‑porous and resistant to stains and odors, with good visibility and a premium feel. It’s heavier and breakable, which may matter for busy households or kids’ lunches.
• Plastic: Typically lighter, more portable, and often available in modular, stackable sets. Some plastics can stain with tomato or berry pigments and may show wear over time.

Whichever you choose, look for features that match your routine—removable colanders for rinsing, vents for humidity control, and leak‑resistant lids for transport. Always check the product page for material details and care instructions (dishwasher or microwave ratings can vary by item).

Start with your space and the produce you buy most often:

1. Measure your fridge: Note shelf depth, width, and height (including door clearance). Leave a bit of space around containers for airflow.
2. Match capacity to produce: Shallow, smaller bins work for a pint of berries or grape tomatoes; deeper bins suit heads of lettuce, bunches of greens, or melon wedges.
3. Plan your layout: Low‑profile containers fit drawers; taller, stackable bins suit shelves.
4. Think sets: Mixed‑size sets offer flexibility for weekly hauls and meal prep.
5. Check dimensions: Compare listed dimensions and capacities on each product page to ensure a comfortable fit.

Using Walmart’s filters, you can narrow by size, shape, and features to find containers that match your fridge and shopping habits.

Proper care can help containers last longer and stay fresh‑smelling:

1. Check the listing: Review care icons for dishwasher, microwave, and temperature guidance.
2. Disassemble parts: Remove colanders, lids, and any gaskets before washing.
3. Wash gently: Use mild soap and a soft sponge; place lids and smaller parts on the top rack if dishwasher‑safe.
4. Dry thoroughly: Let all pieces air‑dry fully to help prevent odors.
5. Avoid harsh heat: Don’t microwave or dishwash items at high heat unless they’re rated for it.
6. Deodorize as needed: A brief soak in a baking‑soda solution can help with lingering odors.
7. Store loosely: Keep lids slightly ajar to allow airflow when not in use.
