A double light switch is often called a duplex switch or a combination switch. These switches let you control two separate lights or fixtures from a single wall plate. You might also see terms like double toggle switch or double rocker switch depending on the style. When shopping, check the product description to make sure it matches your needs, as some models have different wiring setups or control options.

Wiring a double light switch can vary, but here are some general steps:

1. Turn off power at the breaker before starting.
2. Connect the hot (live) wire to the common terminal.
3. Attach each load wire (going to the lights or devices) to its own terminal on the switch.
4. Connect the ground wire to the grounding screw.

Always follow the wiring diagram included with your switch and local electrical codes. If you're unsure, it's a good idea to consult a licensed electrician for safety.

Double light switches usually combine two single-pole switches in one unit, letting you control two separate fixtures from the same spot. While they look like a single device, inside they're typically two independent switches sharing a wall plate. This setup is handy for saving space and keeping your wall looking tidy, especially in rooms where you want to control multiple lights or a fan and a light from one location.

In many cases, you can upgrade from a single to a double light switch, but you'll need to check a few things first:

• Make sure your electrical box is large enough for a double switch.
• You'll need separate wires running to each fixture you want to control.
• Always turn off the power and follow safety guidelines.

If you're not comfortable with electrical work, consider hiring a professional to ensure everything is installed safely and up to code.

Double light switches are great for spaces where you want to control two lights or devices from one spot. Common places include:

• Kitchens – control overhead lights and under-cabinet lighting.
• Bathrooms – operate a light and a fan separately.
• Hallways or entryways – manage multiple fixtures for convenience.

They help reduce wall clutter and make it easier to manage your lighting setup in busy areas of your home.
