A dice tower is designed to help you roll dice fairly and consistently during tabletop games like Dungeons & Dragons or board games. When you drop dice into the tower, they tumble through internal ramps and land in a tray, ensuring random results and preventing dice from bouncing off the table. Using a dice tower can make gameplay smoother, reduce disputes about rolls, and keep your gaming area organized. It’s especially handy for games with lots of dice or when you want to avoid accidental dice loss or interference from other players.

The ideal height for a dice tower depends on the types of dice you use and your gaming setup.

• Most dice towers range from 6 to 14 inches tall, which is enough for standard polyhedral dice to tumble properly.
• Taller towers offer more randomization but can take up more space.
• If you play with larger dice or want extra randomness, look for towers closer to 10-14 inches.

Consider your table size and portability needs when choosing a tower. There’s no strict rule, so pick a height that fits your style and space.

Absolutely! DIY dice towers are a fun project for gamers who enjoy customizing their accessories. You can use materials like cardboard, wood, or plastic to build a tower.

1. Start with a basic rectangular shape.
2. Add internal ramps or baffles to mix up the dice as they fall.
3. Finish with a tray at the bottom to catch the dice.

There are plenty of online tutorials and templates to guide you. Just make sure your tower is sturdy and the ramps are angled for proper tumbling. Personalizing your tower lets you match it to your favorite games or themes.

Keeping your dice tower clean helps it last longer and ensures smooth dice rolls.

• For most towers, simply wipe the exterior and interior with a soft, dry cloth.
• If it’s made from plastic or wood, you can use a slightly damp cloth for tougher spots, but avoid soaking it.
• For felt-lined trays, gently brush away dust or use a lint roller.

Always let your tower dry completely before storing or using it again. Regular cleaning keeps your gaming accessories in top shape.

When shopping for a dice tower, consider features that match your gaming needs.

• Look for sturdy construction and smooth ramps for reliable rolls.
• Some towers include built-in trays or storage for dice and miniatures.
• Foldable or portable designs are great for travel.
• Unique themes or colors can add personality to your game nights.
