Command strips are designed for smooth, finished surfaces, but there are some places where they may not adhere well. Common surfaces to avoid include:

• Textured walls or wallpaper
• Brick, concrete, or rough masonry
• Uneven or porous surfaces like unfinished wood
• Wet or damp areas unless specified as water-resistant

For best results, always clean the surface with rubbing alcohol before applying the strip and check the product packaging for specific surface recommendations.

The weight capacity of command strips depends on the specific type and size you choose. General guidelines include:

• Small strips: up to 1 pound
• Medium strips: up to 10 pounds
• Large strips: up to 15 pounds
• Heavy-duty options: up to 20 pounds

Always check the packaging for the exact weight limit and use multiple strips for heavier items if recommended. Factors like surface type and proper application also affect how much weight the strips can support.

Many adhesive hooks, including command strip hooks, are designed to be gentle on painted walls when used as directed. To help prevent damage:

• Follow the instructions for surface prep and removal
• Wait at least 7 days after painting before applying
• Avoid using on delicate or peeling paint

Proper removal is key—slowly pull the tab straight down to release the adhesive without harming the paint. Results can vary based on wall condition and paint quality.

For heavier items or challenging surfaces, some customers explore alternatives like wall anchors, screws, or specialty mounting tapes. Keep in mind:

• Mechanical fasteners (like screws) offer more strength but require drilling
• Heavy-duty mounting tapes may hold more weight but can be harder to remove cleanly
• Always consider the wall type and whether you want a damage-free solution

Command strips are popular for their balance of strength and easy removal, but other methods may suit specific needs.

Command strips are intended for one-time use. Once removed, the adhesive typically loses its effectiveness and may not securely hold items if reused. For future projects:

• Purchase replacement strips, which are available separately
• Always use a fresh strip for the best hold and to avoid damage

Reusing strips isn't recommended, as it can lead to items falling or wall damage. Check the packaging for details on replacement options.
