Getting started as a CNA usually means having a few essentials on hand. Common items include:

• Comfortable scrubs: These are the standard workwear for CNAs and come in various colors and fits.
• Non-slip shoes: Look for lightweight, supportive shoes designed for long shifts and lots of walking.
• Badge holder or reel: Helps keep your ID visible and handy.
• Compression socks: These can provide extra comfort during long hours on your feet.
• Basic accessories: Items like a tote bag, watch with a second hand, and a penlight can be helpful.

Check with your workplace for any specific requirements before purchasing supplies.

Practicing CNA skills is easier with the right tools. Some helpful items include:

• Medical uniforms or scrubs: Wearing these helps you get comfortable with work attire.
• Badge buddies: These quick-reference cards can remind you of important procedures or role details.
• Comfortable shoes: Supportive footwear is key for practicing tasks that require standing or moving.
• Compression sleeves or socks: These can add comfort during skill drills or long practice sessions.

Having these items on hand can make your practice more realistic and effective.

Many CNAs find that having a dedicated work bag makes their day easier. Useful options include:

• Canvas tote bags: Lightweight and roomy for carrying scrubs, shoes, and personal items.
• Backpacks: Great for hands-free carrying and organizing supplies.
• Accessory pouches: Helpful for keeping small items like pens, badge reels, or snacks organized.

Choose a bag that's easy to clean and has enough space for your daily essentials.

There are lots of thoughtful ways to show appreciation for a CNA. Consider:

• Gifting themed apparel: T-shirts or accessories with CNA graphics can be a fun way to celebrate their role.
• Jewelry or bracelets: Items with CNA or medical symbols make meaningful keepsakes.
• Personalized badge holders: These are both practical and special.
• Handwritten notes: A simple thank you card can go a long way.

Small gestures can make a big impact and show you value their hard work.
