Chart tape is super versatile and can be used for a variety of projects. Here are some popular uses:

• Creating grids or lines on whiteboards for teaching, planning, or organizing information.
• Decorating scrapbooks, journals, or planners with colorful borders or sections.
• Labeling and color-coding items in classrooms, offices, or craft rooms.
• Marking charts or graphs for presentations or displays.

Because it comes in different colors and widths, you can get creative with how you use it for both functional and decorative purposes.

To remove chart tape cleanly, start by gently peeling it back at a low angle. If the tape resists, try warming it slightly with your hand to loosen the adhesive. For delicate surfaces, go slowly to avoid lifting paint or finish. If any residue remains, a soft cloth dampened with mild soap and water can help. Always test a small area first to make sure the surface isn’t affected. Chart tape is designed to be removable, but results can vary depending on the material and how long the tape’s been applied.

Yes, you can usually write on chart tape, especially if it has a matte or paper finish. Permanent markers, dry erase markers, and some pens work well for labeling or adding notes. For glossy or plastic-based tapes, test your marker on a small section first to check for smudging or fading. Writing on chart tape is a handy way to add labels or headings to charts, planners, or craft projects. Just make sure the ink dries before touching to avoid smears.

Chart tape is generally designed for single use. Once removed, the adhesive may lose its strength, making it less reliable for sticking again. Some washi-style tapes might be gently repositioned if handled carefully, but they’re not intended for repeated use. For best results, use fresh tape for each new project or application. If you need something reusable, consider magnetic strips or other removable options for your charts and boards.

Washi tape and chart tape serve different purposes, though they can look similar. Washi tape is typically decorative, made from paper, and comes in lots of colors and patterns—great for crafts, scrapbooking, and planners. Chart tape is usually more functional, designed for making straight lines or grids on whiteboards, charts, or displays. It often has a stronger adhesive and comes in solid colors or black for clear visibility. Choosing between them depends on whether you want something decorative or more utilitarian for organizing and labeling.
