Carpenter triangles come in different angle combinations, like 30/60 and 45/90 degrees. Here’s how they differ:

• 30/60 triangles have one 90-degree angle, one 60-degree angle, and one 30-degree angle. They’re great for drawing isometric views or dividing lines into thirds.
• 45/90 triangles feature two 45-degree angles and one 90-degree angle. These are handy for creating perpendicular lines or bisecting right angles.

Choosing the right one depends on the type of project you’re working on and the angles you need to measure or draw.

Choosing the right size carpenter triangle depends on your workspace and project needs:

• Smaller triangles (like 4 or 6 inches) are perfect for detailed work or when you’re working with smaller drawings.
• Larger triangles (8 to 12 inches) offer longer edges for drawing straight lines and are easier to handle on bigger projects.

Think about the scale of your work and how much space you have on your desk or drafting table before deciding.

Yes, carpenter triangles are commonly used for technical drawing, drafting, and architectural work. Their precise angles help you create accurate lines and shapes. Many are made from clear acrylic or polystyrene, so you can see your work underneath. Just make sure the triangle’s edges are straight and the markings are easy to read for the best results.

To keep your carpenter triangle in good shape:

• Wipe it gently with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and pencil marks.
• Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive pads, as these can scratch the surface or wear off markings.
• Store your triangle flat or in a protective case to prevent bending or chipping.

Regular cleaning helps maintain accuracy and keeps your tools looking new.

While carpenter triangles are generally safe, here are a few tips to keep in mind:

• Handle with care, especially if the triangle is made of acrylic or glass, to avoid chips or cracks.
• Keep fingers clear of the edges when drawing to prevent slips.
• Store triangles away from heavy objects that could cause them to break.

Following these tips can help you use your drafting tools safely and extend their lifespan.
