When baking sheet cakes, you'll want a pan that's flat, sturdy, and has low sides for even baking. Sheet cake pans are typically rectangular and come in various sizes, like half-sheet or quarter-sheet. Look for pans made from materials like aluminum or stainless steel, as they help distribute heat evenly. Nonstick options can make cleanup easier, and some pans come with lids for easy storage or transport. Consider your oven size and the amount of cake you want to bake to pick the right fit for your needs.

A sheet cake pan is a rectangular baking pan with shallow sides, designed specifically for making sheet cakes, brownies, and bar cookies. These pans usually come in standard sizes, like half-sheet (about 18" x 13") or quarter-sheet (about 13" x 9"). The low sides help cakes bake evenly and make it easy to frost and serve. Sheet cake pans are also versatile for roasting veggies or baking cookies, making them a handy addition to any kitchen.

Yes, people who are lactose intolerant can use regular cake pans. The pan material doesn't affect lactose content—it's all about the ingredients you use in your cake. Just swap out dairy products for lactose-free or plant-based alternatives in your recipe. Nonstick or stainless steel pans can make cleanup easier, especially when using different types of batters. Always check your recipe for hidden sources of dairy if you're avoiding lactose.

Choosing the right size sheet cake pan depends on how many servings you need and your oven's dimensions.

• Half-sheet pans are great for larger gatherings and fit most standard ovens.
• Quarter-sheet pans are perfect for smaller batches or limited oven space.
• Check your recipe for recommended pan sizes to ensure even baking.
