A cachepot is a decorative container designed to hold a plant’s nursery pot. It’s not meant for direct planting, but rather to add style and elegance to your space while keeping your plant’s original pot hidden.

• Easy swaps: You can quickly change plants or move them around without repotting.
• Protects surfaces: Cachepots help catch excess water and soil, keeping tables and floors cleaner.
• Versatile decor: They come in various materials, colors, and sizes to match your home or garden style.

The term "cachepot" comes from the French language, where "cache" means "to hide" and "pot" means "pot." So, a cachepot is literally a "hiding pot."

• Historical roots: Cachepots have been used for centuries in Europe to conceal less attractive plant containers.
• Decorative tradition: They became popular as a way to display plants elegantly indoors and outdoors.

Most cachepots do not have drainage holes, since they’re designed to hold a plant’s nursery pot rather than serve as a direct planter.

• Water management: Always check if your cachepot has a sealed base or removable plug. If there’s no drainage, avoid watering directly in the cachepot to prevent root rot.
• Easy care: Simply lift out the nursery pot to water and let excess drain before placing it back.

Cachepots can be a great option for orchids, especially since orchids often need special pots for drainage and air flow.

• Display benefits: You can use a cachepot to hide the orchid’s plastic or clay pot, making your display more attractive.
• Care tip: Just make sure the nursery pot drains well and remove it from the cachepot when watering, so excess water doesn’t build up.

Choosing the right size cachepot is all about matching it to your plant’s nursery pot.

• Measure first: Check the diameter and height of your plant’s existing pot.
• Allow space: Pick a cachepot that’s slightly larger, so the nursery pot fits comfortably inside.
• Consider placement: Think about where you’ll display it—smaller pots are great for shelves, while larger ones suit floors or patios.
