Off! Repellent(262)

Effectiveness depends on the active ingredient, concentration, and how you use it. Many everyday formulas feature DEET or picaridin in sprays, lotions, or spritzes that can help reduce mosquito and tick bites when applied correctly.

• Active ingredient: DEET and picaridin are widely used for personal protection.
• Format: Aerosols cover quickly; lotions give precise coverage; wipes are travel-friendly.
• Comfort: Look for dry-touch or fragrance-free options if you prefer a lighter feel.
• Use and conditions: Sweat, swimming, and wind can shorten protection—reapply as directed on the label.

For a quick find, use filters to compare ingredients, formats, and pack sizes, then choose pickup or delivery for convenience.

Both DEET and picaridin are common choices for personal repellents, and the best fit often comes down to comfort, conditions, and target pests.

• Coverage: Both are used against mosquitoes; many formulas also note tick protection—check each label.
• Feel and scent: Picaridin tends to offer a lighter, lower-odor feel; DEET is available in a wide range of strengths.
• Activity level: If you’re active, look for sweat-resistant or long-lasting options, regardless of ingredient.
• Duration: Higher concentrations generally last longer, but usage and weather affect performance.

If you’re unsure, start with a comfortable feel and the protection hours you need, then adjust based on your experience and the product directions.

Each format has its perks, so it’s about how you like to apply and where you’ll use it.

• Aerosol spray: Quick, even coverage over arms, legs, and—if the label allows—outer clothing. Best used outdoors or in well-ventilated areas.
• Pump spritz: Lighter, more controlled spray; often fragrance-free options are available.
• Lotion: Precise application with less overspray; helpful for faces (applied to hands first, then to skin) and sensitive areas.
• Wipes/towelettes: Travel-friendly, individually wrapped for targeted touch-ups without overspray.

Consider your setting, coverage needs, and comfort. Always follow the specific directions on the product label for where and how to apply.

Proper application can improve protection and comfort.

1. Read the label: Follow directions for where and how to apply, and any age guidance.
2. Apply outdoors or ventilated: Avoid enclosed spaces when spraying.
3. Use just enough: Light, even coverage on exposed skin; apply to clothing only if the label says it’s permitted.
4. Avoid sensitive areas: Keep away from eyes, mouth, and cuts. For faces, spray or dispense into hands first, then apply.
5. For children: An adult should apply to their own hands, then to the child; avoid kids’ hands.
6. After use: Wash treated skin with soap and water and store the product safely.

Reapply only as directed, since activity and weather can affect longevity.

They serve different purposes, and some households use both depending on the situation.

• Personal repellents: Applied to skin and, if allowed, clothing for on-the-go protection while hiking, gardening, or at events.
• Outdoor foggers: Treat a designated area for a limited time. Check the label for coverage, wait times, and safety directions.
• Yard pretreatments and devices: Hose-end treatments and area devices can help reduce activity in specific spaces—always follow instructions.

Use personal products when you’re moving around; consider area treatments ahead of gatherings. Never apply area treatments directly to people or pets, and always follow each product’s label for safe use.
