I do not feel that it is flimsy or will break on me. The removal of the lid is very simple. I would not say that the lid locks in, but you are able to twist it so that there's less spillage if you were to accidentally grab it too quick and it tipped over slightly. I don't remember exactly what I paid for this pitcher but it was less than $5. it's nice and sturdy and the handle is firmly attached. When you pick it up by the handle to pour a glass of tea it's firm and there's no wobbling or spilling as you pour. I'm pleasantly surprised and pleased with this purchase because it is a much better product than I expected for the price. I would definitely buy it again but based on how well it is made I don't expect I will need to for quite some time. I don't see this pitcher wearing out for years. Walmart finally got something right.
