The Medela TheraShells® Breast Shells are specially designed for mothers who are breastfeeding. They are intended for sore nipples, engorgement and flat or inverted nipples as well as other challenges. You get two solutions in one: the large opening backs help soothe sore nipples and protect from further irritation, while the small opening backs help with flat/inverted nipples or engorgement. These Medela breast shells provide relief between feedings that mothers need. They are ergonomic and feel comfortable to wear. The Medela TheraShells Breast Shells have a low profile design, offer a natural appearance under clothes and are made without BPA.

A breast feeding must have
These shields are perfect for the breast feeding mother, My breasts are on the large side and when it comes time to feed I often get engorged. I wear the shields which have two different backs and it keeps everything in working order and decreases pressure/pain. They will cause your milk to "overflow" at night and you could have some leaking but its totally worth it. Also if you have sore nipples wear the shields and they heal much quicker. Its like magic!

Great little gadget.
Smaller than the Medela soft shells by a significant amount. Also are hard plastic instead of silicone. Bought these to use in the weeks prior to birth to make my flat nipples poke out more (as recommended by my ibclc) and for that purpose they have definitely worked. Haven't needed to use the engorgement back yet as not quite there. Can be seen under shirt if wearing a nursing or sports style bra. Cannot be seen under a padded bra in my experience.
Great product!
I just had my daughter seven years after my youngest and I remember how helpful this product was with my previous pregnancies. If it wasn't for the relief of this product, I probably would not have opted to breastfeed. This product was the only thing that helped bring me the relief I needed to keep going!
