The quiet, ordinary lives of a working class family are shattered when their eleven-year-old daughter suddenly vanishes. A police investigation turns up nothing and as time passes, Tom and Gillian Lindsay are left only with their guilt and unanswered questions. Tom clings to the belief that his daughter is alive and as his hope becomes an obsession, he leaves the sleepy suburb where they live and travels to London in search of Rachel. And as Tom digs through the grim reality of life on the filthy streets, he realizes that his nightmare has only just begun.
