From award-winning author Pegah Ghods comes a warm and welcoming picture book that introduces children to Yalda Night, the Persian winter solstice celebration. Celebrate Shab-e Yalda (شب یلدا), the longest night of the year, with Lily and her family. As they prepare pomegranates, watermelon, nuts, tea, and fesenjoon, Lily discovers beloved Yalda traditions-from listening to اشعار حافظ to making a wish and taking فال حافظ.
Through warm family moments, young readers learn about the meaning of Yalda, the joy of gathering across generations, and the hopeful reminder that after the longest night, brighter days are ahead.
This full-color Persian-language picture book also includes Yalda-themed coloring and drawing activities. It is a meaningful choice for Persian-speaking families, Iranian diaspora households, multicultural and mixed families-including families with one Persian parent-Persian-language classes, Iranian preschools, classrooms, libraries, and children learning or practicing Farsi.
