I'm interested in movies %26 other media made by women, with different world view than most made by men. Am reading book about the cinema of Sofia Coppola--writer %26 director of LOST IN TRANSLATION--whose films often don't fit expectations of typical Hollywood productions. My favorite films %26 TV programs tend to reveal more meaning on rewatching %26 thinking about. For example, Wikipedia quotes comments by professional reviewers pointing out opening image refers to paintings by a famous modern artist AND a movie by famous French New Wave film maker about making movies. So if LOST IN TRANSLATION puzzles some viewers, it might just be because they lack knowledge to help interpret it. For those bored by superficial screen time, and who enjoy figuring out what someone else is trying to say, this can be welcome challenge and chance to explore another person's thoughts %26 world.
