Kitchen Knife Set

The knives turn dark with black spots. What the black spots are, I don't know. The turning dark is just natural for steel. They are sharp, which I like. The knife holder has 8 slots. I wish there were 8 knives to fill it up. Also they're made in the USA!!

First off these are USA made. They are 1095 steel which means they will rust if not cared for and maintained. They should be hand washed after each use and dried promptly. Adding a light coat of olive oil to the blades is all that is required. As for the wooden handle a good butchers block conditioner or food grade mineral oil is needed every so often just to keep the wooden handle from drying out and ultimately cracking. As for the cutting ability, out of the box they are sharp however the can be sharpened to razor sharpness with very little effort. The knife holder is a hardwood. Im guessing hickory or oak. It will hold an extra three knives of your choosing, a feature I like because I can store my favorite kitchen knives in the holder as well. Overall, I recommend this knife set.
