Janome computerized sewing machine C30. I could not wait for my day off to play with this sewing machine! It's bright colors and sleek design looked very fun to me.
I am accustomed to names like Singer when it comes to sewing machines. I did learn that Janome is a company that has been around since 1935. It is actually a very reasonable sewing machine for all the different stitches that it includes. I think that this machine would be great for a beginner or intermediate or even an advanced sewing person. The threading at first is a little bit confusing it took me a few moments to get accustomed to how to thread the machine properly. After a few tries and broken threads, I think I got it down enough to make a set of drapes. The pressure foot is very soft close and open. The machine is pretty quiet for being a sewing machine compared to some other ones I have used. Choosing a stitch that is straight or a design switch is pretty easy to do as well.
Looking at the machine there are actually 30 built stitches. It has a top drop-in bobbin. I found that actually pretty convenient. The LED readout is very simple and very bright and large. So even without your reading glasses, you should be able to see it. The machine is very light weighing at about 11-12 lb so it is very portable. In the box, you get the machine presser foot power cord a little plastic dust cover for the machine, a few sewing implements, and the Janome Machine.
There's also a built-in needle threader. Definitely watch the Youtube for how to do this it's pretty simple once you see it done a couple of times.
I'm going to be playing with the machine some more in the weeks to come. I want to make some clothes for the kids and practice the memory buttonhole feature.
My singer machine with not even half of these features the Janome C30 has was well into the five and six $100. The Janome C30 machine will run you around $300.
I think this is an excellent value for anyone who wants a little bit more and a machine does highly portable with lots of bells and whistles without the high costs.
