Now, at forty-two, she suddenly finds herself with a growing career of her own--even as Eric's career sinks deeper into a slump. After a dinner at a local restaurant to celebrate the news of Eve's book deal, Eric drives the babysitter home and simply doesn't come back. As Eve is forced to shift her family in possibly irreparable ways, she comes to realize that competence in one area of life doesn't always keep things from unraveling in another. "Beautiful, complicated, and often funny" (Oprah Daily), Gone is a powerful novel about reinvention in midlife, redefining everything from one's marriage and career to one's friendship and role as a parent. It's about passion, forgiveness, and knowing when to let something go and when to fight to hold on.
