Fiskars Tabletop Seam Ripper

First I'll say how much I love all Fiskars products and have numerous throughout the house. Secondly I'll state that my hands are deformed from rheumatoid arthritis. That is only being mentioned so you know how easy this product and other Fiskars products are to use. If I can use it then nearly everybody can use it. With that said, I was really pleased to see this tabletop seam ripper. It is wonderful to have both hands free to work on the clothing. Call me skeptical, I worried that the suction cup wouldn't be strong enough or would be finicky as to what type of surfaces it would stick to and if it would stick to the surfaces strongly enough and not keep popping up in the middle of work. Worry no more because it passed this test with flying colors! When attaching to the work surface, you do need to apply some downward pressure, which I was easily able to do, and then at the same time you push the lever down which creates the suction hold. There is a cap covering the sharp part of the seam ripper and you can store this under the lever so it does not get lost while the seam ripper is being used. Fiskars thought of everything once again! I am going to be embarrassingly honest here, I couldn't figure out how to use the seam ripper because the bottom part has the red ball while the top part is the sharp blade. I tried to start to pick up a thread and was having no luck since I was used to the traditional style of seam ripper that you hold in your hand. Out of frustration I looked online to see how to properly use a seam ripper in case I've been using it wrong all these decades. There truly is a reason for that red ball! Once I learned the correct purpose, opening up a seam was a piece of cake and I wish I knew this trick ages ago and Fiskars really helps with allowing you to keep both hands free to hold the fabric. I highly recommend this item because it will make your sewing life so much easier. I used to dread taking the seam apart because it was slow going, thread by thread, but learning this trick, now opening up a seam literally takes seconds. No exaggeration! Plus not having to hold the seam ripper, the seam opens up even faster since you can use both hands. Brilliant! This product is amazing. This tabletop seam ripper allows you to rip seams in fabric while keeping both hands on the material you're working with. Simply push the ripper down and pull the lever to stick to your table. Never lose where you are again, so easy.
