Anna doesn't talk. It's been almost two years since her brother's death, but still the pain throbs as though it happened only yesterday. And she can't help but carry the awful burden of blame that everyone seems to be casting upon her shoulders. Was it her fault that he killed himself? Her best friend, Jay, is the only person who understands her, but even then, it's difficult for her to explain herself without her voice. She resorts to nonverbal communication: meaningful glances, quiet sighs, and - once - a few words written on a chalkboard. Jay helps her in every way he can, and has brought her to St. Stephen's School for the Emotionally Unstable. It is here, standing on the forbidden roof, that she begins to battle her demons and conquer her grief. As she alternates between reality and memory, the pieces of her turbulent past begin to come together, and soon the new truth begins to reveal itself. What keeps her from speaking? And will she ever speak again? Find us on Facebook: http: //www.facebook.com/thecrescentbook
