Creative ChatMax HS-620 Headset

Excellent headset! Full sound makes you feel immersed in the environment. I no longer game, but I figure these would be VERY acceptable for gaming. Crisp highs & mids with strong (enough) bass. Absolutely sick value (currently on Walmart.com for $29.99) Lightweight too, considering. "Noise-reduction" is a joke, as you can hear sounds from "outside" and those nearby can hear what you're listening to, but this may be OK and exactly what you want, depending on your needs. Unlike the typical heavy "over-the-ear" style headset, the HS-620 is rather lightweight in velvety comfort. The mic's flexibility, durability & length are absolutely perfect, and the fact that it's detachable is great-- particularly for people who need headphones more often than they need a microphone for voice-chats... Because it's detachable, the microphone boon does not swivel up out of the way when you don't need it. After several months or years of the mic being attached & detached hundreds or thousands of times over, the mic-jack COULD potentially begin to break-down & impair mic-use. However, the product has NOT shown any signs of weakness in this area; when shopping I simply look for potential weak-spots because I think of owning products for the long-term. The durability of them appears good-enough for people who treat their property with care. These are not cheaply made, but if you're a "passionate" gamer who often rips his headset off his head without consideration, OR if you have very young children playing with your gear, then they MAY eventually break, IDK. But if you simply "know" how take care of your stuff, they seem quite good enough. Oh, and the volume on these goes nicely high-- slightly but noticeably higher than a few other pairs I've tried, and the sound maintained perfect clarity when maxed-out too. I truly loved this headset, & disappointingly had to return it because I'm currently using an archaic dinosaur of a computer whose soundcard apparently doesn't accept the separate microphone connection that this style of headset offers. (However, for a few bucks more, I am now gladly using the Creative "Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Alpha USB Gaming Headset", which is absolutely amazing, & currently can be found here at Walmart.com and-- for much cheaper if you price-hunt-- on Amazon. It's slightly heavier, but is truly insane w bass, THX, variable settings, & the same features as the HS-620 with just as epic of a price-value [if you price-shop].) If you cannot spend more than the cost of this headset, then this headset is totally the one you want to buy. Awesome value. As a matter of fact, if sound-quality is important to you but your spending-limit is 5 or 10 bucks lower than the cost of this Creative Labs ChatMax HS-620 Headset, then make a small sacrifice somewhere else or borrow the extra loot to buy this headet. If you don't agree that it's worth more than you paid, then return it at your local Walmart within 30 days with the printed receipt with no hassle (which is what I did). And no, I wasn't paid to make this review... I just REALLY liked this headset enough to sit down & write all this as a courtesy to you, the shopper.
