    Installation couldn't have been simpler
As a Centurylink customer, I needed something that I could depend on to have the correct specifications. This unit (which is actually a DSL modem and a router) fits the bill. No software was needed to install because installation was automatically done online. You do need an Ethernet connection at first, but you can switch to wireless once installation is complete. Broadband speed is very good and the internet connection has been very stable. I have internet access throughout my house and most of my large yard. This unit replaces three devices that I was previously using to provide wi-fi in my home. I had a DSL modem, a wireless router, and another router to help increase the coverage area. Also, I didn't break my piggy bank.

    Modem works fine, but....
I needed to buy an additional router to boost the signal to work in all areas of my small house. Was told by Best Buy employee that she had the same problem in her apartment.

perfect if your a century link customer

Was at Best Buy one day to pick up a cheaper model and the guy there said people with CenturyLink were bringing them back. After a lot more dropped internet days I went online to Walmart and found they had these C1000A's that the guy at Best Buy suggested, $99.00 same price. Did the site to store, got an email in an hour it was ready for pick up. Took it home, was very easy to set up. Been using it for w week and have not lost the internet once and I am using it on two PC's. Highly suggested for CenturyLink customers!!!

Easy to install, and solved problem with old modem

I was having network problems that per CenturyLink were due to buffers that were being overrun in my old Actiontec DSL modem. CenturyLink recommended that I upgrade to a new DSL modem, and this was one of the ones they recommended. It was easy to install, and it solved the problem.

    Easy install

I am an existing century link customer and needed to update the router. This one is plug and play. Very easy install.

    Easy setup, works flawlessly

Recently switched to CenturyLink internet service and I did not want to pay a monthly lease for their modem/router so I made this purchase. Everything needed to setup your internet is in the box. The instructions are clear and concise and I had the internet up and running in a couple minutes. All together, a printer, Direct TV, bluray, 2 laptops, a galaxy 5s, iPhone 5c, an iPad and a consumer price survey reader are all connected through the router/modem and all work exactly as they should.

    Easy Instillation

I found that this was the easiest Modem and Router that I ever installed. It is small and very compact combining both Router and Modem in one, which means smaller space and less wires to deal with. It's basically all on screen instructions with no software to install. It has great wireless reception anywhere I use my tablet and runs Netflix like a champ. If your looking for simplicity without all the bells and whistles, I would I would definitely recommend this one.

    Ceturylink modem router Actiontec c1000a

This product met all of my expectations and more. I would recommend this product.

    Great Centurylink Support

After reviewing my phone bill, I discovered I had been "renting" my router / modem for a long time-- even tho I was sure I had bought it thru the phone company. Unable to verify that as it had been more than a year, I decided I was purchasing my own equipment. This router / modem is a lot faster @ connecting to the internet than the Westell brand was and has been working great... but time will tell as it has only been in use for a week. There was a faint smell of "something hot" during the first few days it was hooked up- which concerned me- but that has gone away and I am very pleased with the performance. I did have to use Centurylink Support as initially it would not link to the internet but that was a simple reset / reboot on the router and it was fixed. I would have given excellent on everything but that only indicates there is no room for improvement... and there always is.

    Pretty Good

It's a little early to tell, haven't had it that long, but it is doing the job. I've had some issues with it, but I do believe it's due more to the heat that we've been experiencing than to the unit. My old modem was pretty old, so anything would've been better than that. It was kicking me off the internet two to three times a day. Frustrating to say the least. But this new one is working pretty well. No major complaints. Everyone has their opinions, I think it's doing okay for now. Let's pray that it keeps working after the warranty has expired..................

    Modem works fine, but....

I needed to buy an additional router to boost the signal to work in all areas of my small house. Was told by Best Buy employee that she had the same problem in her apartment.

    1. The smell eventually will fade away.

    2. I didn't encounter an offensive smell to mine. When I put my nose up to it, it has a slight plasticky odor but I have mine in the kitchen and I don't notice any smell.

    1. Yes. The modem connects to the service provider (plugs into the phone line for DSL, connects to cable line for cable internet). The router spreads the internet connection from the modem to other devices through Wifi. This particular product is a combination unit. It is a modem and router in one device. To use your existing router, all you need is a standard modem that is compatible with your service provider, and plug your router into the modem's ethernet port. If you only have 1 computer and do not need Wifi for other devices, you do not need a router. A standard modem will do just fine.

    2. Since this item is a modem as well as a router, a separate modem is not necessary when using CenturyLink High-Speed Internet service for access to the Internet.
