The shoes are very comfortable, but a little tricky to put them on. I don't think they will require a breaking period. I like the "sock" that is built into the shoe. Great for working on the garden and getting chores done. Haven't used them for fishing, but I am sure they will work fine.

My feet swell a lot so I buy one larger size and I can still walk fine in them and keep my balance and as my feet swell, they have a little room that they don't get pressed in on.
