I cut my finger and used this ointment in combination with alcohol to assist with the healing process. I will admit, this ointment burned, but that just showed me that it was doing it's job, and an excellent one at that! My finger is now nicely healed and infection-free! You can use soap and water. Keep the area clean. The ointment helps with the keeping the wound clean.
