Big...this thing is big but works very quiet and efficiently. Directions were hazy at best, especially detailing the clips that hold the fan to the heatsink assembly, and the manner in which the base plates have to be facing to get the perfect alignment was lacking. I would suggest you leave the protective cover on the actual heatsink base while you ensure the plates are correctly aligned and the screws match the mobo. After that the actual install is straightforward.
