and the grandmother who babysits my almost 5 month old grandson, I needed something to hold him while I do other things including warming his bottle. he does like sitting in this and feels comforted. I've not tried it the reverse way so far but I think he would like that too. it's fairly straightforward to put on and use. it is very secure for the baby and is a nice quality item. the only thing I would say is that you cannot take it off and then take the baby out. you have to take the baby out while you're wearing it which usually is a two-person job until you figure out how to hoist him on your shoulder and shimmy the contraption down past his legs. I also find that I have a lot of shoulder fatigue after wearing it for a long period of time but it saves my arms and wrists from becoming fatigued. there is some back fatigue as well but then again I am a grandmother and not a young one. but I can definitely recommend this item. I can see that this would be a great option if you're taking your family to an amusement park or a zoo and you want to hold the little one instead of having him in the stroller the whole time. and it works great around the house for doing other things while he wants to be held. but it is a little tricky to do some things with him there in front of you. so you just have to for instance watch out very carefully if you're opening cabinets or closing the refrigerator and of course you have to turn away if you are heating something. I even find that it is very secure to bend forward and pick up something off the floor of course with one hand holding him against me. I do not think a baby would slip out of this too easily but you wouldn't want to do cartwheels in it. the fabric is comfortable and there is a nice area for the legs to go in where it's not too wide so that they are straddling the fabric but for this 5-month-old his knee comes to the edge of it and the rest of his leg dangles down and he seems perfectly comfortable. he can put his arms inside or put them through the holes and reach for things. I have even given him his bottle with this still on but I open up one side to allow him to rest in more of a laying down position in my arm. and also makes burping easier and he even has fallen asleep in it.
