Overall it has advantages over leather belts. First, it stretches easily, and doesn't split like leather often does. The stretch keeps it comfortable without having to adjust manually. The only downside is adjusting it to keep your pants up if you are fat. (Dunlap syndrome) The stretchiness allows your pants to slip down, so you must tighten it to do its job. Not a big deal but worth mentioning. It looks nice, doesn't curl and allows adjustments to any comfort level one needs. No need to get an awl to make extra holes. Price is right too!

These braided belts are the only casual ones I where. They allow for a comfortable, exact fit without the need to settle for a belt-hole which makes your pants too loose or tight, as with traditional belts. They also present well in casual settings.
