This is the best rice cooker I've ever owned. It's the brand, Cuckoo, that is the number 1 rice maker in Korea! It has loads of features and costs less than popular brands that only cook rice. If you're unfamiliar with a Micom Rice Cooker, google it to see just how superior this brand is. Before you cook anything with it, read ALL the instructions. Additionally, I read most of the reviews which alert you to things to expect, or things not detailed in the instruction book. After that when using it the first time, after you select the function (like white rice) the display screen will show a spinning display which is the soak cycle, then it will count down the number of minutes left until the rice is done cooking. The display screen will have the letters: OH, which means the cooker is in Warm mode, meaning it is finished cooking. At that point you can either keep it warm until you serve it or hit the cancel button or unplug it. I do both, then put the rest in the fridge or freeze it in portion servings for a future meal. Next step follow the instructions for cleaning it. Did I mention it self cleans! Of course you have to remove rice particles first. I highly recommend you buy this Cuckoo Rice Cooker. Here is a list of things on the menu: white, Jasmine/long grain, steam, porridge, quinoa, brown/mixed, quick (no soaking step), stored rice (rice you plan to freeze) and steel cut oats. Another hint: only use the rice measuring cup that comes with this cooker and pour the rice into the inner pot BEFORE adding water to the line indicated within the inner pot. I was in need of a rice cooker. I have the digital crock pot that makes decent rice. except if you replaced any of the silicone gaskets or anything the seal isn't that good anymore so you have to babysit it and make sure it closes before it starts cooking I didn't want to do that it takes too much time to watch it so I was in the market for a good inexpensive rice cooker with fuzzy logic. this price is phenomenal. I'm used to a bigger cooking vessel so I was a little concerned but it actually Cooks quite a bit of rice. The most I put in is the three cups that's included and it makes six cups. by the way I measured the cup it's actually 3/4 of a cup if anyone wants to know if you lose that cup that size is 3/4 of an actual cup just pay attention to the rice you put in the simple way to do it is fill that cup up say you do one cup of rice you put it in the included pot and then you fill up enough water until it reaches the once cup mark. also if you're using long grain make sure you click the long grain option because apparently it doesn't cook it as long as it would medium rice and you can overcook it. It just takes a little pain attention to but doesn't take that long . maybe 20 plus minutes. I just combine that with a Crock-Pot so if I'm making my protein or whatever in the Crock pot I'll put the rice in the rice maker super clean and easy low effort amazing meals. as far as the the rice coming out I would say about 8 out of 10 9 out of 10 roughly. the grains come out cooked evenly all throughout so that gets a 10 as far as texture maybe I'll try a little less water but for the amount of rice you get and the overall I'd say good 9 out of 10.i like the small footprint. clean design great for small countespace
