- Normal ranges for blood glucose in an adult are 80 to 120 mg/dL before a meal and less than 180 mg/dL after a meal.
- The middle or ring fingers are used for blood glucose tests (second and third fingers).
- You may want to avoid using your little finger due to the skin being thin.
- During the day, levels tend to be at their lowest ust before meals.
- For most people without diabetes, blood sugar levels before meals hover around 70 to 80 mg/dL.
