important?

used a brown one too make a snap up shirt i really like a vest lining and sewed all my scraps to a 27 inch square bandana. stitches and tightness holds real good. after several wearings i noticed a big blotch on my bandanna from my always dried hair gell. thought it would wash out but it didnt. never had this happen with 100% cotton home made bandanna. try soak it in surf next time or what? this material seems to stain.
