Raising the bowl for a Boxer isn't about health reasons, I continuous feed and they only eat when they're hungry--and they'd rather play and sleep than eat. I raised it to keep a visiting little dog from eating her food, but it turns out that she is MORE COMFORTABLE with a raised eating experience versus eating off the floor. She has started to eat more often now, not often enough to be concerned about weight gain at all (she is a highly active dog; I take her to run almost every day), but now I'm not worried about her not growing to her full height (she's still a puppy and is turning one-year-old on Memorial Day).

I bought two of these, and they serve my purposes very Well. These are the Perfect Height for my Golden Retriever. I decided to remove the little plastic caps off of the top of each leg, because my dog was biting them off and chewing on them. And it works just fine without them. I bought two stainless steel bowls- one for water, one for food- To sit on top of the stands.
