My dog Sam is and an older Walker Treeing Coonhound that spent the first 5 ½ years of his life being severely abused by his 'owners'(I use the term loosely) in Georgia. Gratefully he was rescued and was living with a foster mom in Florida with around 6 other dogs for 2 ½ years before I adopted him and brought him home to New Jersey. He's a huge sweetheart but sadly the abuse that he endured has left him broken and scarred physically, emotionally, and mentally. I bought this elevated bowl to lessen the pain in his neck, shoulders and back while eating and drinking. He seems happy enough with his new elevated bowls. it's easy to construct and is sturdy.

It does raise the bowl up. I think it should be higher for medium to large dogs. The widest setting was ok and held the bowl securely. Make sure you measure the bottom of the bowl at its widest circumference. My bowl fit but to be wedged in. Luckily it was plastic and could be manipulated to fit. Overall I like it but my dog doesn't. I'll give it my recommendation with the warning that you really need to know what size your dog bowl is. SgtWall USMC
