This little radio is SOLID. It fits in a pack pack or "go bag" with no issue. It also feels solid. We got the orange colored radio so it was EASY to spot or see if in green grass or camping foliage. There are so many of these types of radios out there. We decided to try one with a reasonable price and decent reviews but we did not want a tiny one because we tried one of those smaller tiny ones. Too many issues. Turns out this exact one is perfect. Too small or cheap and the sound quality of the radio is like a tin can annoying sound. Not with this radio. Great for a desk at work. Take camping or just keep on a shelf to randomly listen to local weather or FM radio. keep in your work shop or garage. The weather station is important if camping, RV, small boat fishing, at the park, or at the beach, to find out about random thunderstorms or flood watch info, snow storms coming, etc....This has Am, Fm, and a specific weather band radio. You'll find your local dedicated weather radio station. There are 3 rectangle black rubber buttons on the top front face of radio. You long press each one to turn that feature on or off. The reading light is much brighter than the flashlight but the flashlight is bright enough. Picks up radios stations very well. You can alligator clip the open end of a 25 ft length of 16 or 18 gauge speaker wire, toss the other end up a tree, over a rafter, or on a roof for even better radio station range. Maybe get more stations farther away or bring in weaker stations. The crank handle works great. It's smooth, not rigid. Easily give it abt 80 to 100 turns, you'll be good to go for awhile. No dependence on solar for it's solar panel or being plugged in to an electrical source. This radio it reliable for use during long term power outages. You can also plug in the included charger cable that comes with it and plug it into a USB port to charge this radio. It has abt 5 lights on a light bar to show you how much juice is left in the radio or if it is on a full charge. A small red light on the front comes on when solar charging, which will take longer but it's still an option. You can charge your phone with the stored power in it using a built in USB port. There's a thermometer that seems to work good enough. The little compass, well, I'd not use it but there are too many features on this radio that make it so perfect. The handle is not cheap but strong and solid. Velcro ends. You can disconnect it to get direct solar charging or even make your own paracord handle with small clips or carabiners. We purchased this radio for a gift and kept it because we were so impressed. We checked it out to make sure it was good enough to give as a gift. It was outstanding. We were so impressed. Got another one for a gift. You can connect external speakers to it or direct MP3 player via Aux port. The charge lasts for hours. Good product. Good price. Good seller.
