I searched extra wide shoes without shoe guard, and these came up in the results. Shoe guards are those obnoxiously high back on the heel that are supposed to allow you to slide into the shoe without bending. I hate those high backs, they rub blisters into my ankles within minutes of putting them on, yet it has become very hard to find shoes without the heel guards. Have people become THAT lazy? Anyway, after my forever wait to get these shipped to me, I would have to say they are worth the wait. They were everything I wanted in a walking shoe. They came with regular height backs on the shoe, real, old fashioned laces, a wide secure sole, and enough width to make my toes sing. I guess the only thing I did not like about them was the tongue was higher than I am used to, causing some discomfort, and the glaringly white soles were a bit much. But, overall I am satisfied with my purchase. Now I have the shoes, I guess I have no more excuses for not doing my walks...
