I had to replace two of my stainless steel mixing bowls that were more than 40 years old, when I noticed I had worn tiny holes in them with my whisk. I looked everywhere for those two sizes and found this set contained both sizes, and was cheaper than buying two separate bowls, so I bought the set. What impressed me the most is that the stainless steel of these bowls are just as thick as my old bowls that lasted 40 years of daily use. I also like the covers, and have used them to store ingredients and for marinating. I really love these bowls and I use three of them every single day. The largest bowl is big enough for rising a one pound loaf of bread. Invest in these for most of your lifetime, or your whole lifetime if you don't cook around the clock, like me! I figure the lids will wear out in about 5 years, but that's okay. I can always use a plate as covers.
