All towels shed! Just want to get that out the way. This one is lightweight, so don't expect a warm, plush feel. As others mentioned, each side has a different texture, but both sides dry you off just fine. That's probably why it dries so fast. I've used them in the bathroom because they have rubber backing and I have one in the kitchen that has the rubber backing also different colors and then they stay put you don't slide around with the carpet doesn't slide around. It's really nice and if you spill anything on it you can quickly rinse it out in the bathtub sink
