I chose this Dutch oven for bread baking since it has a heatproof knob on the lid. It is so beautiful, and it has performed perfectly for bread baking. There are no plastic parts on it, so I can crank the oven heat up. It is thick, sturdy, cast iron, and, frankly, heavy. This is what you want and expect in a cast-iron Dutch oven, but be aware that it is heavy if lifting is an issue. It's a feature, not a bug, but it is a physical reality that it's a load to be moving in and out of a hot oven. I have also used it to make soup and stew on the stovetop, and it performs very well for that application. It holds the heat, and things won't scorch if you adjust the burner heat correctly. I'm very pleased with this purchase because this Dutch oven does exactly what I want it to do, and it's also very beautiful.

This is my third time purchasing this dutch oven. I loved mine so much I bought one for each of our kids for Christmas. I use it for baking, soups, stews, popcorn...I use it all the time! It's the perfect size and super easy to clean up. I get the ease of cast iron without the clean up or worrying about my stove top. The current price point makes it easy to pick up a few.
