I ordered these chopsticks over a year ago and I could not be happier with my purchase. I agonized over the best material for chopsticks (and I'm voting fiberglass because that's what these are). I doubted whether anything that claimed to be dishwasher safe would be blowing smoke because, yeah, right, dishwasher safe chopsticks (which, after a year, these clearly are).
In addition, they're fairly good looking; matte black with that silver inlay on the back ends, but how was THAT going to hold up in the dishwasher?, I wondered, full of doubt. Well, the answer is, perfectly fine, thank you. They and the dishwasher have a mutually beneficial relationship with me, for which I'm ever grateful
Everyone deserves the joy of learning to appreciate another great culture by learning to eat with chopsticks. If nothing else, no now should deny themselves the convenience of having super helpful, smooth and beautifully tapered sticks as part of their kitchen equipage, if for no other reason than to push peppercorns through the funnel spout when they get hung up when refilling the grinder.
Yes, for the dispositionally squeamish, they will show few tooth marks on the ends after a good bit of use, but they are beautiful, reusable, dishwasher safe, a great value, and as handy as anything honored by the appellation "utensil" should be.
Caveat: who knows what the ideograms/writing on them actually says: It could represent an ancient curse from a rival nation. If so, I have answered it with an honest appraisal of a quality product and maybe that's how we begin learning how to be a single species on the only planet every human being who has ever lived has called home. Maybe we need to learn to invest in human potential rather than work so hard to suppress it.
Bottom line: A for carry, sturdiness, perfect length, lightness, balance, and whatever the equivalent of umami is for the hands.
