I suppose if I had looked long enough, I might have been able to find an expandable bracket that would accommodate a 1" rod....but not at the local places like Home Depot and Menards! My son had the same issue, and we both ended up at Walmart. I ordered online, but I did see the product a few cents cheaper in the store during another trip. All of the other brackets I could find were too small (for 5/8"--3/4" rod diameter) or did not give us enough expansion from the wall to go in front of the bulkiness of an additional blind with an 'outside' mount...and we wanted a valence in a baby's room!
