Midland ER310 Weather Alert Radio

I have a Midland radio that I bought in 2006 and it still works and looks brand new. It is in my bedroom. I was in the market for another radio/flashlight after the rechargeable battery in my other one (which came from a different company) discontinued their rechargeable battery. I took this with me on a trip to a cabin in the northern woods of Minnesota a week ago. My friend who I was sharing the cabin with felt I'd brought some useless niche item. Needless to say, her perspective was changed when we lost power and wifi in a place remote enough there was no cell phone reception. The weather alert came on (let's say you won't mistake it) and let us know that there was a tornado/thunderstorm warning. The flashlight is useful because you can use the dim setting indoors without disturbing others at night and the bright setting is bright enough that you can use it outdoors on a dark, stormy night. The plastic is the stronger ABS of my youth instead of the newer, brittle plastics that so many things are made out of in recent years. I have only one critique. Switching between the AA batteries and the rechargeable battery will reset the device. I always think it's good to be prepared and this is definitely an essential.

Bought this for emergency usage but using at home. Was surprised with little Sun since we had a Winter storm but still the little sunlight was charging. Impressive. The Hand Crank that always seems to break from others seems to be really strong and useful.
