First run on ground venison.

Ground about forty pounds of venison no sweat. Loved having the dual grind and foot pedal attachments. Also used it to stuff one pound bags and it was adequate. Wish it had a little bit wider intake opening, but I'm sure larger models do. That and a reverse option would be a great future option for this model.

This worked as expected. It ran through 35 lbs of venison in no time. It is quieter than expected. One key thing to remember is to have the meat very chilled, shy of frozen, and it grinds nicely. I even chilled the auger and blades for the second grinds. This will be great for 2-3 deer a year. Also got it on a Black Friday deal so it was even better.

Retaining ring tightness

Had read about not having the retaining ring to tight so I started 1/4 turn back from snug. Coarse grind seemed to go alright. On the fine (second) grind I started to get backing up in the grinder head and buildup of uncut tendons etc. on the plate. I cleaned everything, snugged up the retaining ring and everything worked fine with snug blade against the plate and cutting properly.
