You can use a standard water bottle instead of the bag that comes with it because it has standard threads. You can also attach a straw and use it exactly like a life straw. Finally, you can attach this to the drink tube from most bladders for use with unfiltered water. Sawyer filters, this one included, can be back flushed with clean water. Making Sawyer filters capable of lasting for years instead of one time use. I downgraded Durability because a long term filter should come in a stronger case. If you ever need this device, it would be disaster to find a connector snapped off.

The Sawyer mini water filter 2 pack was an excellent investment. I am extremely pleased with this purchase.
