I'll buy this again

Great Coverage and any overspray doesn't show. But you do have to shake and shake and shake the can for best results - otherwise you'll get a splattering instead of a nice even spray.

saw dust or chalk

I had an old wood bookcase (30" x 58" - 5 shelves) that I had sanded down to bare wood. Thought about painting it with a brush but thought spray would be quicker. Shook all cans for full 60 seconds and then shook again for a minute when I got ready to use that can - temp and humidity within limitsUsed two cans of primer and then 3 cans of paint. Some areas looked like I had sprayed them with sawdust - yellowish and very rough. Others just didn't seem to cover at all. After an hour I touched the rough areas and dust fell off. Got a clean rag and wiped those areas and dust flew everywhere like I was cleaning a filthy chalkboard - underneath was some paint. Bought 3 more cans and sprayed again after wiping down. Some improvement but same problems. Good thing my wife like the distressed look because this thing looks like Tom Sawyer whitewashed it = about 100 years ago.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We think we figured out what may have happened. Your description sounds very much like dry spray, which happens when the paint dries in the air before it reaches the surface. To prevent this, apply Rust-Oleum American Accents Ultra Cover 2x in temperatures ranging from 50° to 90°F. Avoid spraying in windy or dusty conditions. Our product support team is here to help! Please feel free to call us at (800) 481-4785.
