Exceeded expectations.

When my wife and I chose this for the baby shower registry, we thought "Well Vtech is a pretty decent brand they make good phones...", but after testing it out we were very satisfied with its sensitive/clear sound pick up ability. It was even able to transmit sound coming from another room(w/ the door open didn't try closed), but the fact that you can be in the baby's room and face away being approx 8 ft away w/ your back turned and whisper real low and still hear what was being said was awesome. Our house is fairly small and sound travels from almost anywhere, but this device will make sure we hear every breath of our little one. I recommend it for its quality and performance especially for the price.

Love it!

This monitor has little to no background noise and is very clear. I just needed a simple monitor because my other monitor(fisher price) gave up after five years and my son will only need one for about six months. I can't get over how much quieter this one is... There is rarely ever any static or white noise.
