I was pleasantly surprised by this rib eye steak! I was first struck by how well marbled the cut was. I towel dried and then salted the steak 30 minutes before I pan-seared it for 4 minutes per side. I was rewarded with a very tender and tasty steak cooked to a heavenly perfection.

Let the butcher do it

Wow. I haven’t had a ribeye in years simply because it just cost too much. But it was a special occasion so I indulged. I didn’t marinade because the meat was known for its tenderness. I poked it with a fork to let the McCormicks Montreal steak seasoning get in. Cooked it on a grill until medium plated roasted Brussels sprouts and baked potato. Hard for that meal to be bad but…the steak was hard to cut through with a serrated knife, there was no pink just from grill to plate it was much thinner that what we started out with. I will stick with the butcher from now on and get a proper cut of ribeye since it’s so pricey anyway.

Pretty sure I got a subpar ribeye

I normally don’t have issues with the ribeye steaks I get from Walmart however this one I got today I just don’t know what’s wrong with it. First of all it’s very small only .63 lbs. Secondly, there’s minimal marbling (which is what makes the ribeyes taste awesome) so I’m not even sure that it’s a ribeye. Very unhappy with this. I will text a picture below look at that and look at the one in Walmart. You’ll see the difference I’m talking about.
