I have had an inguinal hernia for 2 months now and it has been horrible! I had a pair of spandex shaper shorts that I was wearing and they helped but not much. Added in a MASSIVE amount of rolled up gauze to the spandex and that was better (lol if you don't mind a bulge of gauze showing through your pants) but having only one pair made it kind of hard, either wear them non stop with no washing or have a whole day where I don't wear them, which leads to a lot of pain by the end of the day.
I should insert here that I have an 11 month old and having to lift him in and out of bed does not help anything, but what can you do?
So I started searching online for hernia underwear and Yahoo, these came up on the search. Figured if all else failed they would work just as well as what I had, right?
OMGOSH, they are amazing, like I should have ordered 2 so I wouldnt have to pay for shipping again amazing. I can adjust how tight they are, they fit amazingly comfortable AND, they are tight enough I don't have to use gauze balls!!
I actually wish I would have had these with every baby that I have had. (5 by the way) with every post pregnancy these would have helped heal and tighten the abdominal wall so much better. After each baby I have always work some sort of spandex or tight belly band but they were always uncomfortable and bunchy and never tight enough. These are perfect because I can adjust them to be tighter or looser fitting and the material is super comfy and I don't care what the other people say the velcro is NOT thick and bunchy. I have never even noticed the velcro, maybe it just happens to sit at a good spot for me with how I have them adjusted or something, but they don't bother me at all.
Bottom line: I have 3 weeks until surgery and I am SO, SO, grateful that I have these. I am pain free so long as I have them on and I have been wearing them every day for a week now. No worries, I wear my regular underwear with them since I don't own multiple pairs for washing and I take them off at night.
They have washed really well too, no shrinking or bunching the material after, yeah for good quality fabric.
My only con with them is that the crotch seems wide and by the end of the day the inner part of my leg is a little sore, and sore really isn't even the right word cause it's not really any pain. Even swim suits always feel super wide on me, maybe I'm just really narrow? Anyway, I don't want any string style belly support undies but they do feel wide, but everything else that is good makes it no deal breaker for me. It gives a spot to add a photo but even at 125 lbs, I don't think anyone wants to see me in my belly support undies lol
